History

2001 - to date

The Brimstone Dragons were formed in May 2001. The three forming members met by chance, through an allied game of Lost Temple on Starcraft. During the game an alliance was suggested, which quickly became a clan. The Brimstone Dragons were formed and chose the tag, {BD}. This later was altered to BD after Blizzard rendered it impossible for people to create names using the characters "{ }". The Dragons home was 'Public Chat {BD}', an open channel on Blizzard's Battle.net format. Later, it moved to the private channel {BD}. The Dragons have moved to different channels during the years, including, {BD}, Roost , Kingdom, Dragons and Clan BD. Our current home is Op roost.

Three founders became two very quickly. Eminem decided not to pursue the clan and left a week after it was formed. Nemesis and Eternal continued to recruit and grow the clan and the membership rose from 2 to 20 in a matter of days. Weeks later, Nemesis became inactive and while he later rejoined, he quickly left again leaving his best wishes.

Several key members joined and played an important role in the rapid growth of the clan. {BD}~Asimulator was appointed the role of recruitment lieutenant on 24 July 2001. His efforts in recruitment were exemplary. Indeed, one of his key recruits went onto be our webmaster, Hellish. Several others are still around today.

The Clan continued to grow and membership grew to about 50 to 60, largely active members within a few months. Numbers fluctuated up and down over time, but a central group of key members always ensured that the heart of the clan remained. A Warcraft III clan was established quickly after the game was launched, though sadly many members left when World of Warcraft followed.

The Dragons played a keen part in Battle.net's warring history. Several members were able to load substantial numbers of bots. Several thousand CD keys were acquired (ask me and I will tell you) and Eternal wrote the one of the first auto configuration program for mass loading zDs bots, Battle.net's most prolific bot. Massloads of several hundred were often witnessed. During these years, the Dragons fully demonstrated their resourcefulness and strength.

As time moved on and new games came and went, a core group of members have kept in constant touch through our online forum and through IM chats. These friendships are what the Brimstone Dragons is all about and it is these that have ensured the Clan is one that is here to stay.

Today, the Clan is still alive, largely due to the efforts of a few individuals. Many members now keep in touch through our forum where the banter is usually flowing. Some even dust down their copy of Broodwar and play the odd game, while others still play D2, Warcraft III and World of Warcraft.

And now a personal note from myself. While I was key in founding the Brimstone Dragons, there are many, many people that have helped to keep it going. There are too many to mention and I would not wish to offend anyone by leaving them out of a roll call. You know who you are. Without you, the Brimstone Dragons wouldn't survive. I thank you all.
